Health and Safety School Inspection

This school inspection will look at all your processes and procedures for health and safety.  It will include:

• A review of management processes – health and safety policies, the organisation and arrangements in the school.

• Arrangements for the following will be reveiwed:

• Asbestos

• COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health)

• Fire

• First aid

• Legionella

• Lone working

• Moving and handling

• Staff well-being

• Working at heights

  This is a review to see if processes and procedures are in place to manage these hazards.  The inspection will not undertake physical checks.

• Check risk assessments are in place for all significant hazards within the school.

• Establish if processes and procedures are being cascaded down through the school and all staff are aware of their responsibilities under health and safety legislation.

• Conduct an inspection of the whole site both internal and external. 

• Perform a a survey of vehicle / pedestrian segregation arrangements at the beginning or the end of the school day.

• Prepare a report, identifying the findings and any recommendations for improvement.

This inspection is designed to highlight any areas of concern that may be a point of failure during a local authority inspection. We aim to support and guide schools to improve the safety of their site; for their students and staff.
