Work Experience Placement Checks

Health and Safety 4 Education can carry out the following checks for your work experience placements:

  • Undertake health and safety checks by process of an online form for all employers offering work experiences placement for students.

  • To check the employer has valid employer liability insurance.

  • To establish through information provided by the employer; the risk level of the placement.

  • To undertake site visits for all placements with a risk level of medium to high and all employers who have not taken a work experience student before.  The site visits will check there is evidence of the following:

  • The employer’s health and safety policies, processes and arrangements.

  • The employer’s risk assessment and controls for Covid 19.

  • The employer’s arrangements for the welfare of the student.

There are two levels of health and safety checks:

Basic check:

This includes: liaising with the employer and evaluating the online form; gaining evidence of valid employer liability insurance, communicating with the school and preparing the end of check assessment.

Advanced check:

This includes: liaising with the employer and evaluating the online form; undertake a site visit, gaining evidence of valid employer liability insurance, communicating with the school and preparing the end of check assessment.  A decision to undertake a site visit can only be taken following evaluation of the online form.
